Thermal expansion coefficients (TEC) of Ba2NiMoO6 (BNMO) and BaCe0.7Zr0.1Y0.2O3-d (BCZY712) were compared using a Linseis Dilatometer DIL L75 HS 1600. BNMO had a constant TEC of 14.6 x 10-6 K-1 while BCZY712 showed a non-linear TEC curve around 600 °C due to perovskite dehydration. Despite this, BCZY712’s lower temperature TEC of 12.10 x 10-6 K-1 closely matched that of BNMO, indicating good thermal compatibility between the two materials within the specified temperature range. BNMO composite, in combination with BCZY712, shows promise for enhancing protonic ceramic electrochemical cells (PCEC’s) performance.
