Heat Flow measurements from -180°C up to 1750°C
The Differential scanning calorimetry or Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC) is a very widely used method for determining transformation temperatures and enthalpy changes of solids and liquids under controlled temperature changes.
The basic principle of DSC is the measurement of the heat flow between the sample and a reference. This is achieved via a defined heat conduction path. The heat flow is recorded as a function of an external temperature change.
Our many years of experience have enabled us to develop a range of differential calorimeters – the Linseis Chip-DSC series and the classic DSC PT 1000 and DSC PT1600 – to meet every requirement in research / development and quality control in a temperature range from -180°C to 1750°C and under pressures of up to 150 bar.

Properties
- Phase transformations – determination of melting and crystallization points, as well as phase transitions by measuring the enthalpy change against temperature.
- Glass point determination – measurement of the TG by high-resolution caloric detection.
- Measurement of the specific heat capacity Cp – Determination of the spec. heat capacity Cp of solids and liquids using sapphire reference measurement.
- Enthalpy determination of chemical reactions – Determination of the endothermic and exothermic enthalpy of reaction ΔH for chemical reactions
- Measurement of thermal / oxidative stability – Determination of the OIT (Oxidation Induction Time) under different gas atmospheres and pressures
