Applications for the building materials industry
The number of building materials used for construction purposes is growing in line with the areas of application.
This also increases the need to be able to make well-founded statements regarding the properties of the various media and compliance with standards.
The testing of building materials not only ensures that all requirements of applicable laws and regulations are met, documented safety standards also reduce the liability risk of all parties involved in the construction project.
The Simultaneous Thermal Analysis (STA) is ideal for the analysis and material characterization of building materials such as concrete, cement and mortar, plaster and other mineral building materials. Glass transitions of modified glass, binder burnout and decomposition behavior can be analyzed as well as the degree of cement hydration and expansion and shrinkage.
Compared to an analysis using two different devices, the STA offers the great advantage that the weight change and the calories are measured synchronously.
The same test conditions apply at all times for thermogravimetry (TGA) and the dynamic differential calorimetry (DSC).
This enables significantly more precise test results and a greater gain in information.
For the analysis of insulation material and insulation material, the Heat-Flow-Meter HFM is used to determine the thermal conductivity.
