Flexibility in simultaneous thermal analysis

Description

To the point

The LINSEIS STA PT 1000 top-loading thermobalance consists of a digital balance and a sample holder with integrated thermocouple.
The thermobalance enables the measurement of samples with a weight of 5 or 10g (including measuring system).
The specially developed oven enables fast heating and cooling rates as well as highly accurate temperature control.
A variety of sample carriers (TG, TG-DTA and TG-DSC) and sample crucibles ensure optimum measuring conditions for every application.

Special features:

  • Top pan submicrogram scale
  • Temperature range RT to 1000°C
  • Interchangeable measuring system TG – DTA/DSC
  • Optional sample robot with up to 84 positions

Optional MS (quadrupole mass spectrometer) and/or FTIR (Fourier transform infrared spectrometer) coupling is possible at any time.

Software

Making values visible and comparable

The powerful LINSEIS thermal analysis software, which is based on Microsoft® Windows®, performs the most important function in the preparation, execution and evaluation of thermoanalytical experiments, in addition to the hardware used.
With this software package, Linseis offers a comprehensive solution for programming all device-specific settings and control functions, as well as for data storage and evaluation.
The package was developed by our in-house software specialists and application experts and has been tried and tested over many years.

Applications

Application example: Decomposition of rubber Dehydration of the sample takes place in the first stage of weight loss. The water content amounted to 9.27 %. In the second reaction stage, the volatile components are released by pyrolysis in an N2 atmosphere. The proportion of these components is 35.99 %. In the third reaction step, the atmosphere is changed to O2 – all organic components are burned. The weight loss is 14.33 %. The remaining 40.41% are inorganic components such as ash, slag or filler material

Application example: Aspirin

At the beginning of the heating process, some adsorbed water is released, resulting in a weight loss of about 1 %.
At 140°C the melting point of the aspirin is reached, resulting in an endothermic reaction, measured on the DTA trace.
At 60°C, decomposition of the molten drug takes place in several stages.
The decomposition products are volatile, resulting in a total weight loss of almost 100 %.
